So far so good. It works fine with my 2022 CX-5. All CarPlay functions are normal. The connection speed (about 10 secs) and lag are very acceptable. IOS 15.1.1 - Problems with carplay After buying the new Max Pro 13 I have problems with connecting CarPlay to my car (MB Vito 2022). Working great by simple bluetooth, but can't run CarPlay. Sometimes it connect for maybe 15-20 sec before falling out. Have tested different iPhones with IOS lower versions than 15, and CarPlay is running perfectly.

I was in your same spot and bought the 2021 CX-5 Signature. I exclusively use apple carplay so I didn't care too much about the infotainment. I was happy to get the wireless carplay which works flawlessly (and has been removed in 2021.5). Also keep in mind the 2021.5 (and forward) do not have touch screen which is a big negative for me.

I believe any Mazda with the Mazda Connect infotainment system, can have Car play /Android Auto installed. They upgrade one of the USB's. I believe model year 2015 and up. I had it done (AA installed) on my 2016 CX 5.
